Love hurts
Julian of Norwich uses the body and the soul as almost interchangeable in suffering, in doing so she argues that the suffering of the flesh and the suffering of the soul are not so different. Both though serve a purpose and knowing that allows us to fear these trails less. It is these trails she argues that make us better people.
